Sustainable transport for a better world.

Introducing: The Environmental Self-Assessment tool (ESAT)

INTRODUCING ESAT

The Fleet Forum, in partnership with hulo, and with support from the European Commission and CDCS, is pleased to announce the launch of its new Environmental Self-Assessment tool (ESAT) for Fleet and Transport Management.

Context

In the race to meet 2030 environmental goals, aid and development organisations are stepping up, committing to organisational change and substantial CO2 reductions. Transport and Fleet management is an area of operations where significant reductions can be achieved within this timeframe. Strategies to deliver those reductions include reducing transport requirements, shifting to new approaches, ways of working and transport modalities, and improving the environmental performance of our transport assets.Using the ESAT tool will help organisations to assess your current environmental performance and areas of improvement towards industry best practice.

The tool

The tool has been developed collaboratively, with inputs and testing from more than 10 practitioner organisations in the aid and development sector. It is designed to support organisations to self-assess against a number of recognised best practice standards and requirements, including the DG ECHO Minimum Environmental Requirements and Recommendations (MERR).

ESAT follows the principles of Avoid, Shift, Improve, recognising that organisations who are committed to environmental sustainability will be implementing activities across all three of these areas.
